Sometimes inspiration comes unexpectedly and at precisely the right moment. Imagine returning from a walk where you took a ton of photos, only to scroll through and not see anything you feel is any good. I found myself in this exact situation recently. While walking around the downtown area of my city, I had seen this older gentleman walking alone across the street and took a shot hoping to catch that lonely feeling. While looking through my shot at home later on, I was a bit disappointed. The shot ended up being too far away, and I was about to hit the delete button. Then, my youngest daughter started talking about our trip to the zoo the week before. The lightbulb turned on, the clouds parted, the choir of angels sang, and the crazy silly stuff began.

Sometimes the right environment demands a “selfie”, not because I love taking pictures of myself of course but because at times there is just no one else available to be a subject.
Where I work we have alot of various un-inhabited unit space many unfinished with exposed walls and iron frames. This particular room considering it’s size has only two small windows as its light source. Perfect for lighting a subject (me) while creating atmospheric depth of field in the background. I had this image idea in my head as the steal frames either side I felt would help provide a frame in which the subject (again me) would sit.
As for the edit I only used Snapseed here to improve contrast and added some scratches and faded light leaks. Though mobile photography can have its limits one aspect I do find it excels at is the angles and point of view you can achieve placing the phone so low to the ground which is exactly what I done here. Don’t limit yourself to bathroom mirror selfies, most phones have a timer mode, I’m forever using mine.

I have always been intrigued by portraits, especially the ones printed in magazines/newspapers. The eyes, ears, wrinkles..They all add a very magical feel to the face giving us a peek into the person’s life.
We tend to start contemplating about the person’s journey, what circumstances could have caused the formation of wrinkles, etc. All my portraits are straight out of street. They are from the local market, neighbourhood or my travels.
I usually keep my eyes roving to find a catchy face. I have observed that taking portraits is very spontaneous since a particular expression/mood lasts only for a few moments. I never ask for any permission for taking a pic. It is always a purely impromptu decision. Its always sort of, point, shoot and move on.

War will only bring misery. No peace-loving person dream of a disaster. North Korea and America are in a situation to start it. When the war happened, none of us were able to hide from the impact, earth will mourn the damage. Then lets stop World War III before it happens. Here might not be any significant thing we can do, but none of power in this world could stop the imagination. Therefore with imagination, I can freely shout “STOP THE WAR”. This may not quite have a sense, but at least I have declared that I am peace-loving person. | The only original photo in this post is only the backdrop. I use stockimages of mj-ranum and a various elements to make my imagination to be real.

Sunday Feature by Pedro Da Silva
At the end of November 1998, I left Johannesburg International Airport in South Africa with a ticket in my hand, a rucksack on my back and a fire in my heart. I was 23. I was looking for adventure, fun, new experiences and travel. My destination? London. My plans when I arrived? None… I decided to be spontaneous and take each day as it came.
This image was shot at the underground station in Terminal 3. I dropped a friend off at the terminal and once they had checked in, I proceeded to loiter about for a spontaneous photo walk. It was late in the evening and so the underground station was quite ghostly, much different to how it is during peak hours…

Sunday Feature with Linda Stokes on Android Editors

Phone photography is my primary tool for working the path to visual enlightenment. Since  shooting phone (obsessively for 18 months), I keep learning that what I see depends on how I look at it. While it’s true I live in a petrochemical wasteland, strange and unusual beauty abounds. My favorite shots have unusual lighting. So, I shoot dusk and dawn whenever I can. - Linda Stokes

Android Editors Sunday Feature by Alvin Pickettay Jr.

This picture is one I took at my university. It’s Warren Hall building and it is soon to be demolished because it sits right on the Hayward fault. This building stands out on top of a large cliff and when you see it it is a symbol of the school. Its funny because I never actually been inside but looking at it makes me wonder, that’s the specialty of WH. I really like snapping images of it because its not going to be here long and we won’t have our iconic building, only in pictures.

Where I come from the winters are not long and you have to use every opportunity if to enjoy wintry conditions. It was a cold and sunny morning and I decided to go on a hike. As I panted up the foothills of Rudnik mountain in central Serbia and the fresh snow was crunching under my shoes I decided to stop for a moment and listen to the silence. Then I turned around and I saw this great view, big blue sky, snow covered hills in the background and a trail of my footprints in the snow. It was one of those moments worth remembering so I took this shot.
